Thank you for your registration and “Welcome to Kitsfest 15.” Your entry has been successfully received.

Knowing the event

KitsFest Tennis and all its sporting events are about being a community team, being social, and enjoying a great weekend together. Fun sports competitions, activities, the arts, family fun zones, live music, scrumptious food, and cold drinks are all in abundance.. come enjoy KitsFest between and after your matches.

Family Members

In addition to cheering you on, KitsFest has something for everyone. The Family Fun Zone offers play areas, bouncy castles, music and the very popular Opus Art Zone. All sports are free to watch. Additionally, organizers are permitted to serve wine/beer to you at four locations across the beach. Professional DJ’s are stationed at the basketball courts and beach volleyball areas, however DJ Ryan Clark annually delivers his own carefully selected favourites inside the tennis beer gardens. Dancing is not prohibited !!!

Wine/Beer Gardens

Your event wristband will provide you all-access to all four on-site wine & beer gardens; beach volleyball, the bathtub races, basketball, and tennis areas.

Lead Up

Your player’s welcome bag will be provided when you check-in for your first match
Your round-robin match times will be posted by or before Saturday August, 3rd on KitsFest.com/tennis to ensure you have time to plan your weekend
The official ball is the “Babolat Championship.” Our partner, Rackets & Runners, carries this brand to help in advance prep.

Draws/Scoring

As all draws have limited size, all entrants are final and not subject to refund for withdrawal unless KitsFest is cancelled.
If you or your partner are unable to play, you can arrange for a “substitute” providing their name is sent to the event organizers before play begins and the new partner’s is a 3.5-4.5 level (not 5.0-Open level) and must be 19 years of age or older.
No avoidance times taken as this is a round-robin event with multiple matches both days.
Matches are best 2 of 3 sets. 3rd set is a 10 point tiebreaker. No ad scoring throughout all sets.

Equipment

Bring your softest towel, change of shirt(s), clean socks, beach flip-flops (for between matches), and funky water bottle.
Rackets & Runners will have their mobile store and stringing services on-site. Worry not, we have all the essentials you need to best ensure you can enjoy your play.

Therapy

The basketball area offers you a (free-of-charge) physiotherapy station. This tent provides assistance with most required medical concerns you may have.

Re: Inclement Weather

Incase of inclement weather, tennis relocates to UBC’s Indoor Tennis facility.
We will post any such decisions on the web-site.
We only move indoors if we feel a significant portion of the day would be rained out.

Friday Aug.11th, 2023

4pm or 5pm start: Mixed Doubles play begins for most entered teams on the front 5 courts
6pm start: UBC tennis staff will be hosting action-paced drills, new racket demos, and skills contests on the south 5 courts to get all mens & womens doubles teams ready for the weekend. Mixed doubles teams will be involved in bracket play at that time.. but can dive in between play.
8pm- Lululemon Sunset Yoga: The famous Lululemon Sunset Yoga commences just steps from the tennis courts on the beachfront. All tennis event participants are welcome to join the 1,000+ who annually partake. (Please bring your own yoga mat)
All day: Beach Volleyball and Basketball play.

Saturday Aug 12th, 2023

Mixed Doubles play in morning continuing through early afternoon
Ladies Doubles begins later in the morning
Mens Doubles begins mid-day
New 2020 5K run (Tentative – TBD) begins at ~8am, Steve Nash Spin Bike Classes & Zumba Dance are on the beach running, (good for tennis warm-up), with all other sports in full motion.
